Grow With Us
One decade into the second half of the last century, there was enough food in the world to provide every person with 2300 calories per day. Unfortunately, those calories were distributed unevenly.
It is estimated that more than half of the people in developing countries suffered from chronic undernutrition.
In other words, those who survived were rarely considered healthy.
By the mid-1990’s, the population of the world had more than doubled.
Fortunately, agricultural production moved even faster. Global food supplies reached 2700 calories per person each day. Moreover, the percentage of chronically undernourished people in the developing world had been reduced to 20%.
UKUWA is dedicated to further reducing that 20%. Our student leaders are currently working to improve living conditions in rural parts of Kenya, a country that has shown little improvement over the past several decades.
To me, our task is noble and exciting.
This is why I am a part of UKUWA.
I encourage all of you to help us help the world.
